We Really Need Your Financial Support!

You can help foster the growth of our next generation of cultural leaders with your generous contributions to Walenstein Musical Organization. Walenstein depends almost exclusively on the financial support of members and friends like you to maintain its position as one of the leading educational institutions in South Florida’s performing arts.

For the 2008 – 2009 music season, Walenstein Musical Organization must raise over $500,000 in order to continue to educate and train those who are and will be part of its various programs, especially those from the underserved neighborhoods in the South Florida regions.

For over 11 years, we have taught those gifted with musical abilities the importance of classical music and have given them the opportunity to show their talents. They have received financial aid through our scholarships and opportunity for growth through our competitions, chamber music training, concert series, master classes, and our outreach programs. Below is a description of the various Walenstein Musical Organization programs and how your support will enable us to further our mission in providing performance opportunities for the talented musicians of South Florida.

Educational Initiatives:

Our Music Education and Outreach Programs are designed to expose children, especially those from underserved areas in Miami to classical music and to encourage many them to be more appreciative of music as a whole and possibly even learn a musical instrument. Funds raised for educational initiatives will be used for 4 programs, which are listed below.

  1. Beginning January 2008, Walenstein will launch its new program entitled: “Developing Babies Brains with Music from Conception to 5 Years Old.” This program is designed to foster motor development, psychic functions, and enhance memory from the fetal months to the college years. Your donations will be used to cover costs, such as, guest lecturer honorariums to those who will participate in our seminars and workshops, venue fees, printing materials, and more.

  2. Walenstein Symphony Orchestra will present 2 special lecture/mini concerts per musical season to elementary and middle school child from the underserved areas of the South Florida region. The purpose for these concerts is to educate them on the importance of music in their lives and in their community. We believe the more these children understand the art of classical music, the more likely they will continue to attend musical events. Your donations will be used to cover cost, such as rental fees, musician salary, transportation/bus fees, and more.

  3. Walenstein Musical Organization will host 2 summer camps; one in Broward County and one in Dade County. These camps allow the students to receive intense music training, individual, and group performance opportunities. It will serve as a means to focus on positive learning opportunities. Your donations will be used to cover partial scholarships to low-income families, teacher salaries, venue fees, music technology software, musical instruments, sheet music, educational music activity costs, etc.

  4. Walenstein Symphony Orchestra will focus extensively on attracting senior citizens to the realm of classic music. Student and professional musicians from our programs will be sent to perform free of charge for various retirement communities throughout South Florida. In addition, WSO will offer complimentary tickets to those interested in being part of our concert audience. Your donations will be used to cover costs, such as, musician salaries, promotional material, transportation fees, etc.

The Chamber Music Program:

Chamber music is a quintessential element in a student's musical development. As Haydn stated, "chamber music is an intelligent conversation between friends." Not only does it reinforce the concept of discipline, but also it emphasizes the art of compromise and the virtue of respect for the other players' ideas. The students will be given the opportunity to form chamber music groups that will study on a regular basis, with different eminent chamber music masters. They will then perform the classical works they have studied and mastered in the Chamber Music Concert Series. Funds raised will help cover costs, such as, sheet music, venue fees, professional coaching salary, etc.

The Walenstein Symphony Orchestra:

In October 2007, we brought forth the greatest endeavor known to Walenstein, The Walenstein Symphony Orchestra. Its primary objective is to present high quality musical performances to the residents and visitors of South Florida and to offer a unique educational possibility for interactive learning. It is composed of some of the most talented high school and college students, as well as professional musicians. This venue provides a unique opportunity for the high school students to expand their knowledge and experience through the interaction with those in college, and where both college and high school students gain profound wisdom from the professionals. The unique feature of this orchestra is that all guest solo artists will be music students between the ages of 10 and 25, giving them the opportunity to perform with a professional orchestra and exposure to the public. Contributions given will help cover costs, such as, orchestra sheet music parts and scores, concert hall and rehearsal space fees, musician salaries, marketing fees, etc.

Scholarships:

Walenstein will award four scholarships for the 2008-2009 music season to talented students who show exemplary abilities in leadership and music performance. The scholarship program will also be extended to talented high school students for private lessons. Funds donated will enable us to not only increase the number of scholarships offered, but to also increase the amount award.

Administrative Compensation:

Walenstein administration is composed of experienced and talented individuals that manage and coordinate all of our programs. Your generous contributions will allow us to compensate them in manner that reflects local norms.

Unrestricted Contributions:

We greatly appreciate all donations earmarked for any of the above programs. However, unrestricted contributions are especially valuable to Walenstein, as they give the flexibility to use funds wherever the need is most urgent. Unrestricted contributions provide a strong foundation that supports all of the artistic and educational activities of The Walenstein Musical Organization: student scholarship, administrative support, musical and educational programs, facility rentals, and more.
