Romel Joseph, Executive Director of both The New Victorian School and Walenstein Musical Organization, was released from Jackson Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Center in Miami, Florida, on March 13th, 2010, after being airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center on January 15th, 2010, due to severe injuries he sustained while trapped under the rubble of the school for 18 hours.
 

On January 12, 2010, Walenstein Musical Organization's sister organization, The New Victorian School, was completely destroyed by the 7.0 earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. WMO is a US –based 501(c)3 institution, whereas the New Victorian School is located in Haiti, therefore donations, must be given directly to Walenstein Musical Organization earmarked “The New Victorian School” in order for donations to be tax deductible.
