How does it work?
Just like the piano, this fundraising program has 88 keys. Each key, except for G sharp/A flat, has 3 names using the "natural, sharp, double sharp, flat, and double flat" enharmonic spelling. For those of you who are not musicians, "enharmonic spelling" is when the same tonal note has various names. For example, C natural, B sharp and B double flat is the same note with 3 different names.
How do you participate?
Eight (8) cards with the name of a key will be assign to each note/primary individual who will contribute $10 for one of the eight (8) cards. Then each of these donors will select seven (7) more donors for the remain seven (7) cards, totaling eight (8), which will constitute an octave per principal donor.
If you are not a musician, don't worry! Eight (8) cards, numbering one (1) through eight (8), will be given or sent to you. All you will have to do is contribute $10 for your card and find seven (7) more people for the remaining seven (7) cards.
Each group of eight (8) numbered cards will contain the names of each key or musical note. However, each donor who is in possession of card number one will receive a certificate of excellence in leadership giving to Walenstein Symphony Orchestra. The remaining seven (7) donors will receive a letter of appreciation and thanks for their generous contribution.
The raffle, which include all the cards, will take place on January 1, 2010, and the winners will be notify via email. Prizes will be distributed during the "Walenstein Chopin Mania!" festival's final concert on February 28, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. in Miniaci Performing Arts Center.
All cards and contributions must be return to Walenstein Symphony Orchestra by December 28, 2009, to facilitate WSO's 2009 annual final report. Please use the address below to mail all contributions. Make all checks payable to "Walenstein Musical Organization."
Just as the piano is the instrument of reference for all classical musicians, by participating in this creative fundraising event, you will make it possible for Walenstein Symphony Orchestra to become the future full-time reference professional classical orchestra of South Florida.
